NAS Oceana/ Dam Neck MWR is hosting a week-long Olympic event beginning Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16. The MWR Olympics will feature Command vs. Command showcasing all that NAS Oceana and Dam Neck Annex have to offer. Each day will feature a different facility with events highlighting the various activities and recreational outlets to our servicemembers, their families and the greater Navy community including retirees. 

The tentative facility schedule and events are below: 

  • Monday, May 12 at Flightline Fitness Center on Oceana
    • Weightlifting contests
    • Basketball Skills Competitions
  • Tuesday, May 13 at both Oceana and Dam Neck Bowling Centers
    • Bowling
    • Comm Rec hosted games
  • Wednesday, May 14 at Dam Neck Fitness Center and Aquatics Center
    • HYROX Mini Course Race
    • Pickleball Skills Challenge
    • Individual 50 Meter Swim
    • Team 4 x 100 Meter Swim
  •  Thursday, May 15 at NAS Oceana Skeet & Archery 
    • Archery Target Shooting
    • Field Day Games
  • Friday, May 16 at Aeropines Golf Club & O'Club Disc Golf Course
    • Two Person Scramble Golf
    • Nine Holes of Disc Golf

Competition Times: 

Each facility will have open time windows for commands to participate and have their best compete against all the other commands. The window for event participation is from 1 to 6 PM and participants can show up anytime within this window. 

Participation and Scoring: 

Each command team will consist of up to five participants who are competing to earn points. There is no limit to how many command members can participate but five participants must be designated as the scorers prior to starting. The best three scores for each event will count towards the team's total. Points from all events will be talled together and the command with the highest scoring team will be NAS Oceana and Dam Neck's inaugural MWR Olympics champion. 

Transportation: 

For servicemembers looking to participate, but lacking transportation, MWR is prepared to support with vans and buses to get you there. Pick-up will be at NAS Oceana Great Escape inside Freedom Lanes Bowling and at Dam Neck Oasis Liberty Center. Transportation for the event will start at 12:30 PM and run every hour until 5:30 PM.
