The mission of Retired Activities Branch under OPNAVINST 1720.3G is to ensure the retired community is kept apprised of their benefits, entitlements, rights, privileges, changes in retirement law, and provide customer services to our retirees, families, annuitants, and survivors. The Retired Activities Branch is dedicated to supporting more than 650,000 Navy retirees (active component and reserve component), families, annuitants, and survivors worldwide. Dental

The TRICARE Retiree Dental Program ended in 2018. It was replaced by the Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). If you’re eligible, you may be able to enroll in a FEDVIP dental plan.  You must enroll in FEDVIP dental during the annual Open Season or after a FEDVIP Qualifying Life Event.

Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP)
FEDVIP is a voluntary, enrollee-pay-all vision program available to Federal employees and annuitants, certain retired uniformed service members, and active duty family members. Federal Employee Dental & Vision Program

Military retirees are eligible for the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Program (FEDVIP) and the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP).

Who's eligible?

  • • Most military retirees are eligible for FEDVIP dental coverage.

FEDVIP is hosting their annual Virtual Benefits Fair, which will be available throughout the 2023 Federal Benefits Open Season. The Virtual Benefits Fair is an online health fair that houses 2024 plan information in a single location, enabling military families to browse exhibits, view and download plan brochures, and connect with BENEFEDS and FEDVIP representatives via chat.

Military retirees are eligible for the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Program (FEDVIP). What’s more, family members of active duty uniformed service members who are enrolled in a TRICARE health plan are eligible for FEDVIP vision coverage.

Mutts with a Mission

Mutts with a Mission helps alleviate the burdens of mobility disabilities and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from veterans and wounded warriors, so that they are able to live a free life.  At the beginning, the organization focused on solely serving veterans and wounded warriors. In 2019, they expanded their reach to include first responders and those who have experienced trauma in the line-of-duty. Navy Mutual Aid Association Education and Veterans Services

Navy Mutual is the oldest federally recognized Veterans Service Organization (VSO) in the country. The DOL conducts a one-day employment overview. Their contribution to the curriculum also includes the DOL Employment Track and the DOL Vocational Track. SBA's Entrepreneurship Track helps service members understand the dynamics involved in developing and sustaining a business. SBA's support for veteran entrepreneurs continues after TAP, providing veterans with counseling and training services, access to capital, and preparing them to compete for government contracts.

U.S. Department of Education (ED)
The ED promotes the success of TAP for service members and their families by communicating available information and expertise regarding college access, success, and affordability, financial aid and programs specifically sponsored or overseen by ED for the benefit of Service members.

Navy Transition Assistance Support (TAP)
The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) prepare eligible Service members and their families to face the many challenges of transitioning from active duty back to civilian life. TAP enables Service members to fulfill the requirements of the Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) to Hire Heroes Act of 2012 and meet their Career Readiness Standards (CRS) as mandated by the TAP for Military Personnel Department of Defense Instruction 1332.35.

DoD SkillBridge Program
The DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for transitioning Service member to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeship, or internship during the last 180 days of service.
