Rules:
- All anglers must be covered by a VA Saltwater Fishing License and abide by all State and Federal regulations. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Trout regulations allow for five fish per person (only one over 24”). The minimum size is 14” total length. “Total length” means the length of a fish measured from the most forward projection of the snout, with the mouth closed to the tip of the longer lobe of the tail (caudal) fin, measured with the tail compressed along the midline, using a straight-line measure, not measured over the curve of the body.
- In the event of inclement weather, the new tournament date will be Saturday, November 22.
- Fishing will take place at Little Creek Pier 9 (MWR Fishing Pier behind USO) and along the quay wall from Pier 4 to Amphibious Drive. Fish caught offsite may not be entered.
- To ensure ease of movement and maximize available space, no more than one pole is allowed per person. Anglers must be mindful of their surroundings to ensure safety and respect for others. Crowding such that impedes anglers from continuing to fish as situated will not be tolerated. Anglers are expected to accommodate other participants actively fighting a hooked fish to avoid tangling.
- The official weigh station will be at Cove Marina. Any fish weighed must be entered on the scorecard by tournament staff. Requests to have a fish reweighed must be made while the fish is still hanging. All fish that have been mutilated will be disqualified. Mutilation shall be defined as damage which would impair the fighting ability of the fish. The decision of the weighmaster will be final. The weigh station will open at 8 AM and close at 4 PM the day of the tournament.
- If two entries are of the same weight, the fish with the earliest weigh-in time will determine the winner. Fish must be caught by the entrant to be scored.
- If weather and/or other conditions exist that require that the tournament be cancelled, refunds will be issued. The decision to cancel the tournament will be made by the tournament director.
- Heaviest trout will get half the pot, and most trout caught gets a quarter of the pot, based on participation. The youth winner will get a special prize valued at up to $25. Prizes will be awarded after 4 PM on the day of the event. Prizes will be available for collection at the JEBLC Marina for up to 14 days after the tournament.
