Join us at NAVSTA Norfolk for the 2025 Operation MWR on Thursday, October 16 at the Pier 14 Parking Lot. Gates will open at 4:30 PM and the concert will begin at 6 PM.  

This initiative aims to offer service members and their families a recreational and morale-boosting platform, fostering participant readiness and resilience while acknowledging and honoring their service and sacrifices. Operation MWR is dedicated to building vibrant communities, enhancing resiliency, and supporting fun across all installations. 

*Cash and credit cards will be accepted; however, there are no ATMs on site. Cash is the preferred method of payment.

Know Before You Go: 

Camera Policy 

No cameras including all models, versions, and sizes. No video including all models, versions and sizes. No tablets including all models, versions, and sizes. Video recording and flash photography are prohibited. Media photography is permitted with event issue credential only. No generic or news outlet media badge will be accepted. All media request must be approved in advance. 

Cell phones are allowed.

Food and Drink

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Save yourself time and CLICK HERE to purchase your drink tickets in advance! Drink tickets are $5 each 1 ticket is redeemable for a 16 oz canned water, 2 tickets are redeemable for the choice of 1 assorted 24 oz canned beer, and 3 tickets are redeemable for the choice of 1 assorted 19.2 oz canned cocktail.

One (1) Factory sealed single-use 16.9 oz or smaller water bottle per person only is allowed.  Water refill stations will be available. However all refillable bottles must be  16.9 oz or smaller. Water available for purchase on-site as well. 

Bag Policy

All bags must be clear and are subject to screening. Approved bag sizes are 12"x 6"x 12" or 1 gallon clear plastic storage bag. Small clutch purses are allowed but they must be no bigger than 6.5"x 9". No coolers are allowed.  

Alcohol sales will end at 9:15 PM. 

Permitted Items

Guests may bring camp style chairs and blankets to sit on. 

Parking

Handicap parking will be available and there will be people helping to direct traffic to parking lots when you arrive for the concert. 

Prohibited Items: 

  • Firearms and weapons including any type of edged weapon to include knives, impact weapons, electric pulse weapons, ammunition, mace, pepper spray, or other chemical irritants, blunt objects, brass knuckles, blackjacks, etc. 
  • Tools, pliers, leathermans/multi-tools, knives, pocketknives, scissors, etc.
  • Aerosol containers, including sunscreen and personal beauty products, etc. 
  • Large battery packs or power banks over 1 lb. 
  • Alcohol of any kind
  • Illegal and illicit substances of any kind
  • Drugs and/or Drug Paraphernalia
  • Smoking, vaping, and related devices are prohibited. This includes e-cigarettes, vapes, vape pens, cartridges, and other electronic smoking devices
  • Bags that do not adhere to the specific event clear baggage policy including any hard-sided cases
  • Professional cameras and professional recording (photo, video, audio) equipment (NO large professional detachable zoom lenses, stands, monopods, tripods, attachment sticks (selfie sticks), gimbals, frames, iPads, or other commercial equipment. No video recording will be allowed. 
  • Glass, Ceramic, Metal, Hard Plastic, containers of any kind (i.e. Nalgene, Hydroflask, etc.)
  • Outside food or beverage of any kind

  • Coolers of any kind (Exceptions may be made for medical use)
  • Wagons of any kind
  • Tents, canopies, or shade structures of any kind

  • Inflatable of any kind (i.e. furniture, pool floats, toys, beachballs)
  • Animals/pets (except trained, documented, service animals as defined by the ADA)
  • Drones or any other remote flying device of any kind
  • Laser pointers, strobe devices, glow sticks, fireworks, incendiary devices
  • Skateboards, long boards, "Razor" style boards, hoverboards, motorized transportation devices, bicycles, etc. 
  • Chains or spiked jewelry, collars, or leashes of any kind to include wallet chains
  • Flags, banners, totems, of any kind
  • Costume masks or face coverings (except for medicial/religious use)
  • Sticks, rods, bars, rocks
  • Balloons, confetti, streamers, silly string
  • Markers, paint, spray paint, or permanent
  • Frisbees, balls or other thrown sports objects or toys
  • Artificial nosiemakers of any kind
  • Walkie talkies, radio scanners, or any other RF devices
  • Signs or posters more than 2'x3' including multi-piece connecting signage. Paper or foamcoare only. Signs should not impede the viewing experience of other guests in attendance
  • Publicly displayed matters containing content, symbols, or messages prohibited by Federal, Department of Defense (DoD) or Navy policy
  • Unauthorized/unlicensed vendors are not allowed. No authorized solicitation and materials including handbills, flyers, stickers, beach balls, giveaways, samples, etc. 

Other items that in the judgement of security pose a safety hazard or diminish the enjoyment of the event by other guests. Prohibited items discovered during security inspections at the checkpoints must be either returned to the owner's vehicle or discarded. No safekeeping locations will be provided at the event. Prohibited items discovered inside the venue or any items left unattended are subject to confiscation and proper disposal. All attendees accept full liability for any personal items brought to the event. 

MWR event staff reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone. 

All personal items should be discarded in the proper receptacles or removed from the event site when you depart. 

Frequently Asked Questions: 

  1. What is the guest policy?  - DoD ID (Active Duty, Dependents, Retirees, Reservists & Civilians) can sponsor up to 4 guests per one ID. All guests must be in the same vehicle, and be wearing a seatbelt when entering the base. Guests 18 and over must show a REAL ID or valid US Passport and enter in the same vehicle with their sponsored ID holder. 
     
  2. Can a DoD Contractor ID (Green Stripe) holder bring guests on base?  - Yes, if your Contractor DoD ID authorizes you access to NSN, you may escort guests who have a REAL ID or valid US Passport. 
     
  3. I'm a Veteran with a Veteran (VA) ID Card. Can I get on base, and can I bring a guest?  - Yes, if your Veteran ID authorizes you access to the installation, shop at the commissary, use of MWR Facilities you may escort guests who have a REAL ID or valid US Passport. 
     
  4. Can you use a DBIDS ID to access NSN? - No, DBIDS credentials are issued to contractors and authorized personnel who have been granted access to military bases and secure government facilities to perform specific work at specific times. DBIDS holders should understand that their access is limited, and conditional based on the reasons a DBIDS ID was issued. 
     
  5. Can a DBIDS ID holder bring guests on base? - No, your DBIDS ID does not allow you to escort guests at any time. 
     
  6. Does DBIDS grant you entry with a veteran's rating on your REAL ID? - No. The veteran's rating on your REAL ID does not affect DBIDS access privileges. Access is based solely on the credentials and permissions associated with your DBIDS or DoD ID. 
     
  7. Does a TWIC ID grant you entry to the base and concert? - No. It's primarily for workers in the transportation sector - like port workers, longshoremen, truck drivers, and others who need unescorted access to secure maritime areas. TWIC ID holders should understand that their access is limited, and conditional based on the reasons a TWIC ID was issued. 
     
  8. What time do the gates open? Gates will open at 4:30 PM for the concert.
