NSA Hampton Roads Northwest - Galley

Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads Northwest originated in 1955 as the U.S. Naval Radio Station serving as a receiving facility for naval activities. In 1970 it became a part of the Naval Communication Station Norfolk. Northwest Annex's Galley, affectionately known as the Hideaway Inn, provides support to 11 tenant activities and to operating forces comprised of United States Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security operational units, United States Navy and United States Marine Corps Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection training commands, and United States Navy, United States Coast Guard and NATO strategic communication activities. Northwest Annex also maintains and operates the largest small-arms range facilities in Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, and provides environmental stewardship to the farm and wetlands in the Southeastern corner of Virginia and crypto logic support to global U.S. Navy.

The primary mission of the Northwest Annex Galley is to provide attractive, nutritional meals to each customers in a clean, sanitary and pleasant environment. Additionally, our team of Culinary Specialists is tasked with providing provisions support for the dining facility and each of the tenant commands to include hot meals and box lunches when needed during the course of the year as well as in the case of unforeseen circumstances and or emergencies. The Northwest Annex Galley is the Essential Messing Facility for the Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads Northwest Annex Base.

In fulfilling our primary mission, the food service team is comprised of 14 Culinary Specialists, five DoD Civilian Cooks and 21 civilian employees from Chesapeake Services System (Source America), who serve as Food Service Attendants. Our dining facility is modern in design and divided into three different sections to include a main serving line, fast food serving line and theme bar.

By effectively utilizing updated equipment and resources, the food service team at Northwest Annex Galley is able to provide outstanding opportunities to practice advanced culinary techniques for meal preparation.  Additionally, aggressive administrative policies and training programs ensure our record keeping skills support our primary and secondary missions.
