Oceana - Housing
Our mission is to provide housing support for Service Members and their families assigned to Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana and Dam Neck Annex. Our goal is to assist our customers in locating suitable, safe and affordable housing. We have a range of housing options to meet your needs, whether accompanied or unaccompanied.
Privatized Housing
The local HSC processes applications and refers personnel to the PPV property management company. The property management company assigns personnel to PPV housing and should be contacted for maintenance and resident matters. However, the HSC is your advocate, and you should contact them if you are not satisfied.
NAS Oceana has partnered with Liberty Military Housing to offer military families outstanding housing choices. Contact the HSC to get the most current projection of housing availability and wait list information.

Community Housing
The HSC maintains a current database of available off-base community rental properties for homes, apartments and townhomes. Housing referral professionals inspect these rental properties for suitability. The HSC assists with locating off-base housing in the local area, including:

Most personnel, E1-E3 and E4 < 4, are required to live in UH; E4s may be required to live on-base, space permitting. More senior personnel may be eligible to live in Unaccompanied Housing (UH).
There are many advantages to living on-base for single Sailors:

UH is conveniently located on NAS Oceana, housing approximately 1,600 personnel in 10 buildings.
Accommodations are one or two persons to a room based on pay grade and square footage. Building 536 serves as the check-in point. Linens are provided at check-in. UH facilities include lounges equipped with televisions, washers and dryers, and vending machines in all buildings. There are also recreational, fitness, dining, religious, educational and other amenities, most located within walking distance of UH. Dam Neck Annex: Unaccompanied personnel, E4 and below, reporting to Dam Neck Annex, must report to the HSC UH front desk in building 550 - Herndon Hall. NOTE: This site is primarily a school command servicing TSC & NMITC Schools. Assignments are coordinated with the servicing school commands. Those students, on per diem orders, are sent to Navy Gateway Inns and Suites located in Bldg 566A - Stethem Hall.
Resident advisors (RA) and geographic bachelors (GB) may also reside on-base. RAs are senior personnel who provide an after-hours leadership presence to UH residents. RAs sign a memorandum of understanding, agreeing to certain duties and responsibilities in exchange for a room in UH. The program is strictly voluntary and open to personnel in pay grades E6 to E9 (exceptional E4 and E5 with region commander’s approval), including GBs. GBs are personnel ordered to the installation who, by choice or circumstance, have decided that their dependents will continue to live in another geographic area. GBs are receiving basic allowance for housing at the with dependents rate. They are not normally authorized to live in UH. GBs must submit an application that will be reviewed by the Assignment Review Board. If approved, the GB will be placed on the waiting list and offered UH on space available basis.
The Housing Early Assistance Tool (HEAT) assists Service Members and their families in applying for housing Navy wide. HEAT allows Service Members and their families to get the housing application process started at one or more Navy installations online before or after they receive their permanent change of station orders. HEAT is available to any Service Member at all Navy installations. HEAT creates an easy user experience to connect with your destination. Spouses can use the application as well, needing only minimal information about their Service Member. A housing referral professional will be in touch within two business days.
